2025 AGM

We are looking forward to seeing you next Wednesday for the AGM!

You should have received a second notice by now.

But if not, here are the details below…

Date: Wednesday 6th August

Time: 7:30pm

Venue: Angus Inn Lower Hutt OR via zoom

From the Pres

Hi to you all, and what a busy month we have lined up!

Let's get the “boring” stuff out of the way first…We have our rescheduled AGM coming up next Wednesday, 7:30pm at the Angus Inn Lower Hutt. We're so sorry about the last minute postponement of the last one. We hit a few snags on some fairly important paperwork so the best option was to push out a few weeks to get all of our ducks in a row, t's crossed and i's dotted. Please keep alcohol to a minimum until after the meeting, it is a formal event. And don't forget to register your car on arrival so you don't get a ticket!

After that we get straight in to some fun in the dark with the first ever Chronis Night Challenge, we are super excited to put this meeting on for you all so make sure you get those entries in! The bikes have hit capacity at 44, so let's all make sure we at least match their numbers. We have 18 light towers coming in, we need the big number due to the size of our track and the fact that none of our corners double back on themselves. It is a huge task and a big big thanks goes out to all of our volunteers who are helping out for the weekend! They are in for some long hours and late nights to give us the chance to go racing at night.

You'll see further down that there's also a number of track closures this month, primarily around the Chronis Night Challenge to allow the team to set up the track, and then take everything down again. Sorry in advance, it's an unavoidable thing but the reward will be worth it!

Congrats to Tyler on his back to back NZ title in Rotax Light at Superkarts in July. That now takes Kartsport Wellington to 91 NZ titles! WOW!

Joey was also running in Rotax Light, and came across the line with a hard fought 4th place in the final. Just off the podium and a commendable effort none the less!

A final note, don't forget to renew your licence at the end of August!

That's all from me, and I'll see you next Wednesday

Simon BC

HELP!

We require one generator as backup power for the night race!

If you have a ute or SUV and would like to spare a few hours on the Sunday, we would love some help to return the light towers!

Please contact Kyle if you can help us out.

Chronis Night Challenge

Entries are flowing in, the lights are ordered, and we are counting down the days until we go green for the inaugural Chronis Night Challenge!

ENTRIES CLOSE MONDAY 11 AUGUST

If you are allowing someone else to use your allocated pit site, please let the club know no later than 5pm Monday 11th August!

Otherwise a booking system will go live for all other entrants!

A few things to note:

  • Clear visors only once the lights go on
  • LED lights permitted on karts, see supplementary regulations found via the event page on the website or via the entry form
  • Friday is practice from 4:30pm to 9:30pm - Gates open 3pm
  • Saturday is race day from 1:30pm to 10pm - Gates open 11am
  • Please respect the gate opening times, the team will be very busy on the Friday setting up the facility with lights so will need as much space as possible.

Keeping Legal…

Some handy tips for the upcoming Chronis Night Challenge, seeing as we are running at night time there are a few things to bare in mind.

  • You can ONLY use a clear visor when driving under lights.
  • It's going to be cold, so remember your rear bumper rule where the rear wheels must be outside of the rear bumper at all times.
  • LED lights can be used to jazz up your kart. You can only use LED strip lighting and these must be inward or downward facing only, and be secured with cable ties and double sided tape. Full rules can be found on the event page on our website, or via the entry form.
  • No…you can not use tyre warmers…

Track Accident Form

We have put up a QR code in the results cabinet, this is a handy form to fill out if we need to be notified of something such as a crash or track/facility damage. Please don't be scared to use it, you won't get in trouble for anything…

But if we don't know of a problem, we can't fix it!

Racing Licence!

Don't forget that at the end of the month your licence will expire! Especially important if you plan on racing at Blossom in the first week of September!

Please please please…Renew your licence as soon as you are sent the renewal email! If you do it now, it will still expire at the end of August!

In The Limelight

A huge congrats to our Wellington racers who took on some road racing at Manfeild a few weeks ago!

Tyler Edney - Rotax Light - 1NZ

Joey Peirce - Rotax Light - 4th

Tyre Disposal

A gentle reminder, please use the appropriate methods to get rid of your old tyres. There is no more tyre dumping allowed at the track.

Please contact Warthog Racing on 027 6888 255 who will happily take your end of life tyres.

Please do not fill up the club rubbish bins with bulky tyres.

See you at the race track soon!

awesome sponsors!
